Right Knee Replacement Finished

It’s been several weeks since I had my right knee partial replacement, and I’m glad to report the surgery went well. Recovery has taken a bit longer than it did with my left knee, but I’m getting around better these days. That said, the swelling and stiffness are still hanging on longer than expected. I’m trying not to overdo it—doctor's orders—since the swelling is a sign I may have pushed things a little too far.

Cathy’s especially happy that I’m getting more mobile, mostly because the day I take back over push mowing duties can't come soon enough. With this heat, she’ll be praising the moment it happens!

In a couple of weeks, I’ll be stepping into the pulpit at church. They had asked me to fill in earlier, but I wasn’t confident about standing for over an hour on a still-recovering knee. Once the preaching is done, Cathy and I are heading off on a little vacation. She’s more than earned it for the amazing job she’s done playing nurse and watchdog during this long rehab stretch.

I’d be remiss not to give a shoutout to Dr. Berend and his team at Midwest Joint Replacement Center. They made the entire process smooth and reassuring. And a big thank you to Medicare and BlueCross BlueShield for covering the tab—it definitely eased some stress along the way.
