I decided to skip breakfast and take a drive around the lower half of the park to see how the snow and cold made the scenery look. I was not disappointed. See pictures below. I also managed to see several elk and f course bison. No bear though. The temperature was 36 when I set out and we had some big snow flakes last night. I knew the temperature would not stay down all day and I wanted to get some pictures before the sun heated everything up. From my dorm I traveled to West Thumb junction then to Lake junction then to Hayden Valley and then onto the grand canyon of Yellowstone. The elk were hanging out at the lake and the bison were spread out around Hayden Valley. The traffic was very light, which I was glad. I think most tourists were waiting for the temperatures to warm up before they ventured out.
After lunch I took a 5 mile hike to Black Sand Basin. It has been a good day off and the scenery of a snowy Yellowstone was great. That is all for now. Back to work tomorrow. Be kind to everyone. Thanks for reading.
